Our client, a prestigious academic acute care center, is looking for a Director of HIM for their Clinical Reimbursement Services department. The Director of HIM will play a leading role in meeting the challenges presented by the changing regulatory environment and assure the delivery of efficient and effective services that meet the clinical and business needs of the hospital. The Director of HIM must plan, develop and implement systems and processes to ensure optimal reimbursement and timely payment for care.

Title: Director of Clinical Reimbursement Services
Location: Tarrytown, NY
Salary: $150,000

Responsibilities:
Develop goals and objectives, metrics and staffing needs while participating with Sr. Director in development of budget and staffing plan for business line
Provide professional and technical assistance to managers and staff regarding medical record maintenance, activities and operations of business line
Provide guidance and direction to managers and staff regarding coding classifications, reimbursement methodologies, payment guidelines, and documentation compliance for services rendered
Provide leadership and strategic direction to revenue cycle initiatives that strive for optimal reimbursement and reduction in payment denials
Provide guidance and subject matter expertise to clinicians and other professional staff regarding documentation issues, coding, reimbursement and denials, and on data requests and issues as they apply to area of responsibility

Requirements:
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree and credentials in a HIM related specialty (RHIA/RHIT/CHDA/CRCC) highly preferred
Experience in HIM Operations in a complex environment and knowledge of the principles and functions of an HIM Department
Knowledge of State and Federal regulations and TJC standards regarding Medical Records and Information Management
Knowledge and experience with use of technology in a HIM setting
Knowledge of Coding Classifications and reimbursement methodologies, as well as, requirements for reporting of patient information and coded data for quality standards
