Title: Senior Financial Auditor
Salary: $90,000 to $110,000
Location: Stamford, CT or Downtown New York, NY

Essential Duties
• Perform audits utilizing a risk-based audit approach
• Test accuracy of financial data received and a review operations and adequacy of system of controls
• Conduct appropriate data mining reviews utilizing databases such as SAS, EG, SQL, R and Excel
• Champion Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements and conduct reviews and special projects to ensure that financial, operational and compliance controls are adequate and operating effectively
• Conduct ongoing risk assessment with input of management to determine the universe of risks
• Prepare and update internal audit programs with a focus in using a top-down, risk-based approach as prescribed by the PCAOB statement #5; apply appropriate professional standards for audit sampling
• Perform in-charge responsibilities for designated audits; this will include performing supervisory functions for other staff members
• Advise, counsel and instruct staff assigned to the audit; review their work
• Make oral or written presentations to management during and at conclusion of audit, discussing noted deficiencies and recommending corrective action to improve operations and reduce costs
• Prepare written reports containing audit findings with recommendations for improvements; reports express opinion on adequacy and effectiveness of the systems and efficiency with which activities are carried out

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3-7 years of experience in financial auditing including public accounting
• CPA or CIA highly preferred
• Knowledge of databases and programs such as SQL, SAS, EG and Excel
• Knowledge of property/casualty insurance and reinsurance operations is a plus
• Familiarity with the RSG system, as used by the reinsurance industry is a plus

• Review accounting, financial and operating controls

• Report findings for management appraisal of functions audited and action, if required
• Knowledge of audit sampling techniques, statistical and non-statistical methods
• Occasional travel, approximately 10%
• Effective application of professional standards on audit sampling, statistical and non-statistical
• Effective oral, written and analytical skills
• A “team player” who will encourage the open exchange of ideas
