We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Estimator to join a well-established infrastructure contractor with a strong backlog of transportation, roadway, bridge, and civil construction projects throughout Texas. This role will play a critical part in the preconstruction process by developing competitive estimates, evaluating project risks, and helping secure major public and private infrastructure work.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for heavy civil construction projects
Analyze plans, specifications, quantities, production rates, and subcontractor pricing
Perform quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost analyses
Develop estimates for roadway, bridge, drainage, excavation, utility, and paving projects
Evaluate labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs
Collaborate with project management, operations, and executive leadership throughout the bidding process
Attend pre-bid meetings and support overall bid strategy development
Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering alternatives
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
Develop and maintain estimate documentation and bid packages
Support project turnover activities after successful bid awards
Maintain knowledge of market conditions, material pricing, and subcontractor capabilities
Assist with budgeting, conceptual estimating, and competitive analysis efforts

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technology, or a related field
4+ years of heavy civil estimating experience
Experience estimating roadway, bridge, utility, excavation, grading, drainage, and paving projects
Strong understanding of heavy civil construction means, methods, and sequencing
Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
Experience preparing competitive hard-bid estimates
Ability to analyze plans, specifications, contracts, and project documents
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction estimating software

Preferred Qualifications

Experience estimating DOT, municipal, or public infrastructure projects
Experience on projects ranging from approximately $5M to $30M+ in value
Familiarity with HCSS HeavyBid, Bid2Win, AGTEK, Primavera P6, Viewpoint, HeavyJob, Civil 3D, or similar construction software platforms
Experience estimating roadway reconstruction, widening, bridge, utility, and excavation projects
Knowledge of production-based estimating and bottom-up estimating methodologies
Strong understanding of transportation and infrastructure construction markets
Ability to travel occasionally for project pursuits and pre-bid activities
