Position Details
Title: Accounting Manager – Hybrid
Location: Greater Philadelphia Area
Base Salary: $135,000 – $150,000
Bonus: 15% Target Bonus
Total Target Compensation: Approximately $145,000 – $184,000
Reports To: VP Controller
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop senior accountants and accounting staff.
Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development support.
Oversee workload planning and resource allocation for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
Foster a culture focused on accountability, accuracy, continuous improvement, and team collaboration.
Accounting Operations & GAAP Compliance
Manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP.
Review journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial analyses for completeness and accuracy.
Oversee timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
Support and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and documentation.
Identify and escalate accounting risks, complex transactions, and judgment areas to senior leadership as appropriate.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Review financial results and investigate significant variances, trends, and unusual activity.
Prepare analyses supporting budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
Assist with the preparation of executive and leadership reporting packages.
Ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and actionable for business decision-making.
Cross-Functional Business Partnership
Partner with Operations, FP&A, and other departments to provide accounting guidance and financial insights.
Support technical accounting matters related to business initiatives, operational changes, and strategic projects.
Collaborate on process improvement initiatives that increase efficiency and reporting quality.
Assist with system enhancements, automation efforts, and continuous improvement projects.
Process Improvement & Controls
Drive initiatives that improve accounting efficiency, scalability, and consistency.
Support internal control enhancement efforts and compliance requirements.
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual processes.
Contribute to the development of a best-in-class accounting function capable of supporting future organizational growth.
Qualifications
Active CPA license
8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including both public accounting and industry experience.
Prior experience leading, mentoring, and developing accounting professionals.
Strong understanding of accounting operations, month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Experience working within a parent/subsidiary reporting structure.
Knowledge of corporate accounting policies, internal controls, and SOX compliance requirements.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Big 4 or nationally recognized public accounting firm experience.
Experience with ERP systems such as SAP S/4HANA or similar enterprise platforms.
Background in industrial distribution, building products, manufacturing, construction-related industries, or multi-location organizations.
Experience supporting accounting transformations, process improvements, and automation initiatives.
Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, multi-entity environments.
