Controller

Our client is a well-established, highly profitable specialty subcontractor in the commercial construction space, based in the Northeast. They partner with top general contractors and developers on complex commercial projects and have built a strong reputation for quality and reliability in their niche.
This is a hands-on, full-cycle role covering:

Title: Controller
Location: Greater Hartford, CT
Salary: $140,000 to $150,000

Monthly close, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting
Job costing, billing/requisitions, and cash flow forecasting
Collections, retainage, lien rights, and contract document management
Full accounting operations: AP/AR, payroll, tax filings, reconciliations
Building and leading an accounting team, with documented SOPs

Must have:

7+ years as a Controller specifically in commercial construction
Deep, hands-on percentage-of-completion, job costing, and WIP experience
Has run full books for a commercial contractor — subcontractor experience strongly preferred
Team leadership/development experience

Note: Candidates without full-cycle commercial construction accounting experience will not be considered for this search.
