A specialized strategy consulting firm with deep roots across the Energy & Power sector is seeking a Principal / Senior Manager to join its rapidly growing Energy & Power Practice.
The firm partners with executive leadership teams across utilities, power generation, transmission & distribution, gas infrastructure, renewable energy, data center infrastructure, and large-scale capital projects to solve complex strategic and operational challenges.
As demand continues to accelerate across grid modernization, energy transition, infrastructure investment, and capital project execution, the firm is looking to hire a commercially minded consulting leader capable of both originating new business and leading executive-level client engagements.
This role is ideal for an experienced Energy, Utilities and Power consulting professionals looking to step beyond delivery management and into true practice leadership/team build out. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing executive relationships, leading multiple consulting engagements, mentoring consulting teams, and generating approximately $1M–$2M annually in consulting revenue through new client acquisition and expansion of existing accounts.

Title – Principal / Senior Manager – Utilities, Energy & Power Strategy Consulting
Salary:$180k to $200k Base + Performance Bonus
Location:** Denver, CO, Chicago, IL or Boston, MA
The role and responsibilities
Generate approximately **$1M–$2M annually** in consulting revenue through new client acquisition, account expansion, and strategic relationship development.
Develop and maintain executive-level relationships across utilities, Power organizations.
Lead multiple consulting engagements from opportunity development and project scoping through successful delivery and follow-on work.
Serve as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives on organizational strategy, operational excellence, capital project performance, and business transformation.
Lead proposal development, engagement pricing, contract negotiations, and executive presentations.
Oversee project teams, ensuring engagements are delivered on time, within scope, and to the firm’s quality standards.
Mentor and develop consultants, senior consultants, and engagement managers while fostering a high-performance culture.
Identify opportunities to cross-sell additional consulting capabilities and expand long-term client partnerships.
Partner closely with practice leadership to develop new service offerings, methodologies, and go-to-market strategies.
Represent the firm through industry conferences, speaking engagements, thought leadership, and executive networking events.
Operate with significant autonomy while balancing business development, client leadership, and consulting delivery.
General – Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
10–15 years of consulting, advisory, or industry leadership experience within the Energy, Utilities, Infrastucture and Power generation sector.
Demonstrated success generating **$1M–$2M annually** in consulting revenue through direct business development.
Proven experience leading complex consulting engagements and advising executive leadership teams.
Existing network across utilities, infrastructure, renewable energy, power generation, engineering & construction, or related markets strongly preferred.
Deep understanding of major capital projects, including generation, transmission & distribution, gas infrastructure, renewables, or data center development.
Strong executive presence with exceptional presentation, communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
Experience leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing consulting teams.
Ability to influence senior stakeholders, drive strategic initiatives, and operate effectively in a highly autonomous environment.
Willingness to travel up to but not limited to ~50% based on client and business development needs.
