Our client is a new platform, middle-market investment banking boutique providing M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory services to entrepreneurs, founders and family-owned businesses, private equity sponsors, and corporate clients. The firm has built a strong reputation for delivering senior-level attention, deep sector expertise, and high-quality execution across the industrials/business services and adjacent sectors.

The firm is seeking a Managing Director to lead and expand its Industrials Investment Banking practice. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of origination and execution within core industrial verticals — including manufacturing, distribution, industrial technology, specialty materials, and infrastructure-related services — with a focus on middle-market clients. Their typical deal size is ~$100mn in EV.

Title: Industrials Investment Banking – Managing Director
Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 + Revenue splits
Location: Birmingham, AL or Chicago, IL or Detroit, MI (Remote)

Key Responsibilities

• Originate and lead sell-side and buy-side M&A transactions, recapitalizations, and capital raises within the industrials sector.
• Drive business development efforts, leveraging existing client and sponsor relationships to generate new mandates.
• Focus on BD and origination efforts
• Lead transaction teams and oversee all phases of deal execution, ensuring excellence in client service and process management.
• Specialize within the Industrials and Business Services space
• Originate, source, pitch, win, execute and close deals
• Mentor and develop junior bankers, fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture.
• Partner with leadership to shape sector coverage strategy and enhance the firm’s market presence.

Qualifications

• 10–15+ years of investment banking experience with a focus on industrials or related subsectors.
• Demonstrated origination capability and consistent record of closing transactions in the middle market, can have a broad background
• Deep understanding of M&A processes, valuation, financial modeling, and deal structuring.
• Strong client relationships across corporate, sponsor, and family-owned business segments.
• Strong track record of originating M&A fees, ~2mn/year is a minimum
• Entrepreneurial mindset and desire to build within a growing platform.
