Title: Life Underwrite
Location: Remote, North East USA
Salary: $75,000 to $95,000

Responsibilities
Evaluate, classify, and make underwriting decisions on individual life insurance applications up to $500,000 (with occasional exposure to higher-value cases).
Assess risk factors including medical history, lifestyle, occupation, travel, and avocations to determine appropriate coverage and premiums.
Approve, modify, or decline applications for new business, policy changes, reinstatements, and benefit additions while maintaining equitable risk selection.
Communicate effectively with field representatives and internal teams regarding underwriting decisions, policies, and case requirements.
Respond to inquiries regarding underwriting practices and support consistent application of guidelines and regulatory standards.
Apply sound judgment and analytical skills to ensure balanced risk management and business outcomes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA required).
3–5 years of individual life underwriting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred).
Progress toward or completion of LOMA and ALU designations (preferred).
Strong knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy, with the ability to apply this knowledge in underwriting decisions.
Understanding of federal and state insurance regulations.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to make informed, independent decisions.
Familiarity with life insurance products and underwriting systems is a plus.
