Role Snapshot:

Title: Project Engineer – Heavy Civil (Highway & Bridge)
Location: Oxford, CT
Project Type: Heavy Highway & Bridge / DOT Infrastructure
Compensation: $60,000 – $80,000 base

What You’ll Be Doing:

Support Superintendents and Project Managers with day-to-day project execution
Prepare, review, submit, and track shop drawings and technical submittals
Maintain project documentation, logs, and daily reports
Assist with project scheduling, coordination, and look-ahead planning
Track change orders, extra work, quantities, labor, equipment, and materials
Provide technical review of field work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications
Coordinate long-lead material procurement critical to project schedules
Review subcontractor and supplier compliance with contract requirements
Monitor project costs by reviewing approved and coded invoices
Assist with quality control and inspection of subcontractor operations
Support correspondence with DOT agencies, subcontractors, and vendors
Utilize construction technology to track RFIs, COs, budgets, quantities, and schedules
Attend project meetings and jobsite walks as needed
Assist with field office setup, logistics, and special projects

What Is Sought:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
1+ year of CTDOT project exposure
1+ year of highway construction experience
3+ years of concrete construction experience
Experience with budgeting, cost tracking, and quantity tracking
Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications
Ability to work closely with field teams in an active jobsite environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
Valid driver’s license
Engineer in Training (EIT) credential preferred
Ability to travel up to 25% as needed
